These hands are ready to be all that they can be

Curiousity and Intrigue (our term planning) indeed ... has and is involving LOTS of groups of children - both boys & girls.   We have a bonafide (real) motorbike ... ready to be fixed, and with that, lots and lots and lots of questions ... the children have been fascinated.  And with any bonafide workshop ... we have introduced spanners, screwdrivers and various sized crescents in our workshop - which again has created lots and lots of discussions ... the children were really intrigued by the word 'crescent'.  Now we have a BIGGG problem ... where is the wheels?  Good question?  Where could we find out or who could we ask?  Any ideas?

PS  Has anyone got some OLD gadgets we could borrow ... or fix!!!  Anything lying round the workshop or garage that you think children might be INTRIGUED with?

Kai time ...

I suppose we forget ... but we have had lots of visitors lately and they all have mentioned what a fantastic morning tea we provide.  So ... for all our new morning families, it is an opportune time to outline our routine.  Food donations which include fruit (we have had blueberries, pineapple, grapefruit, mandarins to name a few), bread rolls or bread (usually a mixture of brown, white - in fact the more choices the better) and fillings (along with the usual - lettuce, tomato, cheese we have had beetroot, avocado, zuchinni (fresh from our kindy garden), again the more choices the better) - also filtered water or in the Winter soup or Milo.  Morning tea is around 10am ... and the children just LOVE it.
Afternoon tea is also a shared platter with a colourful & varied array of fruit.  We have in the kitchen a Mission On - Healthy Recipes & we have just received a handout 'Loading Up The Lunchbox - Nga Kai Tika mo e Tina - www.heartfoundation.org.nz to share with all our families.  So lots of opportunities to remind ourselves of the benefits of Healthy eating ... Healthy living.  And if you get a minute a good walk or bike ride with the kids is pretty cool. Other opportunities for all our young children around Winton, also include ... Soccer, Rugby, Hockey.  Check out our Kindy Noticeboard.

As part of our Curiousity & Intrigue we have had some 'mystical trees' come along to kindy. Even Kylie & I have wondered how these mystical trees have grown such amazing foliage ... have we any scientists amongst us that may be able to solve this mystery.  Look forward to your responses.  Have a great week !!!

My Oh My or is it MaiMai !!!

Oops meant to say check out all our Maimai work & display (on the wall near the children's tote trays).  The children's drawings are fantastic.  Also we are making & creating our own 'duck shooting' licences.  Oh  ...  and not forgetting to all our Mums ... have a neat day on Sunday.

Move Over Vincent Van Gogh ...

Who would of believed that 4 year olds could, and have been so inspired by such renowned works of art ... in particular Dutch Expressionists Vincent Van Gogh.  This particular masterpiece is titled
'Crows over a Cornfield' and by leaving this amazing piece of artwork displayed over the week children have indeed been inspired ... how fantastic  is that.

With a quack, quack here ...

Welcome back everyone ... and straight into the annual ritual of 'Duck Shooting'.
Wow   ...   we have created our own 'Duck Pond', complete with our own camouflaged maimai.  Lots of discussion was had about contrast, colours & textures for our 'camo' material.   There obviously has been some very excited dads, as some of the children's stories were retold with such enthusiasm ... no too Maimai adventures were shared, you will pleased to hear.

Check out our planning for the term (on the Planning Wall) ... Curiousity & Intrigue.  There maybe some 'curious' things around home the children could share with us.

Term 1 evaluations and Kindy newsletter have just been popped into everyones Parent Pockets ... take a minute to have a catch-up. We are really interested in your feedback ... are our term evaluations informative enough.  Let us know.  Oh ... and don't forget to take a minute to check out our Term slide show, great way to revisit all the learning experiences throughout last term.
