Term 3 Week 5

POLYFEST AWARDS OVERALL WINNERS 2014
WOW WHAT AN ACHIEVEMENT!!!!! Winton Kindergarten awarded this year's overall winners at the Polyfest Art Awards. Congratulations to each and every family!! Everyone added their own influences in one way or another, whether it be coming along for our Oreti Trip, collecting resources at Forest Kindy, designing, gluing, painting, and contributing to both the door and ladder projects - ka pai to mahi/ great work!!! And of course a big thank you to the many families who came along on Friday night to the Awards ceremony and Opening Exhibition - what a fabulous occasion!! Well done to all the other winners and entries - we do have some very very talented tamariki in Southland! If you get the chance then do take the time to head to the Southland Museum and Art Gallery to view the exhibition which goes for the next month.

POLYFEST PERFORMANCE
MONDAY - Trip to Winton School for a dress rehearsal - please remember to pack a warm coat, hat, healthy morning tea and drink bottle, girls to wear white singlet please.

TUESDAY - THE BIG DAY!!! Off to Invercargill to perform on stage at Stadium Southland...we can't wait!!! Things to bring: warm coat, hat, healthy morning tea and lunch, drink bottle, girls to wear white singlet please. Our performance time is 12:15pm - let all our supporters know!! Gold coin donation for spectators.

FOREST KINDY
This week we had an action packed morning at Ivy Russell Reserve, adding to Dave's hut that he and Benjamin started at the Dragon's Den the week prior (unfortunately Susan yours was blown over!). We also ventured down to the now closed Hundred Acre Woods (pine trees) and the group spend some time lying on the troll bridge observing the flow of the creek and making boats to float underneath.

Term 3 Week 4

Forest Kindy
This week we welcomed Libby Mitchell to the group. A big thanks to Dave Hose and Susan Hunt our parent helpers AND creative hut constructors this week - we wait in anticipation to see if this week's designs will hold up against the wind! We discussed bringing along something delicious to leave at the Dragon's Nest this coming Tuesday...have a think over the weekend what you might like to bring along!

POLYFEST PERFORMANCE
The Group performed their waiata at the end day on Tuesday and Wednesday for our families. We will be having dress rehearsals through the day next week. Thank you to those who have signed the permission sheet and put their name down at helpers on the day. As mentioned girls are to wear a white singlet on the day please.

POLYFEST ART EXHIBITION AND AWARDS
Wow, we are sooo looking forward to heading into Invercargill tonight to the Southland Museum for the Polyfest Awards and Opening Exhibition - a big thank you to the 53Winton Kindy attendees who RSVP'd for the event, wow, such fabulous support for our talented and creative children ka pai!! If you did not RSVP and would still like to come along, please do join us!! The evening starts at 6pm and will finish approx 8pm. See you tonight!!

Term 3 Week 3

SNOW!!! Wow, what a surprise for us this morning waking up to a Winter Wonderland!! The small group that we had at Kindy today made the most of things, heading out and exploring with ALL the senses!! We hope everyone else managed to wrap up and keep warm!!

CONGRATULATIONS TEAM NEW ZEALAND! The children have had LOTS of discussions over the past couple weeks about the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games! We talked about the different sports, sportsmanship, working towards a goal, and of course all the celebrations! This week we have been researching on the Internet and watching highlights from the Games and the amazing closing ceremony.

POLYFEST ART AWARDS NIGHT
Thank you to those who have put their name down to come along next Friday night...If you are keen to come along and support our amazing children and their amazing efforts - please email RSVP so we can confirm numbers if you have not yet written your name on the Kindy list. This is an outstanding achievement and the organisers would love to see as many of us there as possible - an evening for the whole family.

MTW GROUP: POLYFEST PERFORMANCE - TUESDAY AUGUST 26TH 12:15pm @ STADIUM SOUTHLAND
We are getting closer to our big performance day! We are practicing our waiata each morning and sorting out our costumes in preparation. A notice will be out next week and also the permission and parent help sheet. This is an awesome day where all our efforts and hours of practice come to fruition - such a special way to affirm our amazing and talented children! We do need lots of helpers AND supporters on the day. Please mark this date on your calendars and sign up at Kindy on Monday - many thanks! Also, do let other family and friends know to come along to the Stadium and watch/cheer for our awesome Kindy Kids.


This week we farewelled Tom Collie off to Limehills School, and also Oliver Davis and Shila Pennall. We also thanked Jan Cowan and Rachel Stalker our relieving teachers. We have Tania Radka joining us from Monday.

Term 3 Week 2

Happy School Days to Leah Langford this week and welcome to Gevena Witcomb to our TF Group. We have had a fabulous week with Jan and her guitar! Jan will be with us until Wednesday next week, with Judy back on Thursday. No newsletter this week.

POLYFEST PRIZE GIVING AND OPENING NIGHT 15th August 6pm Invercargill Museum
WOW, as we let slip at the end of last week, we have received notice that our presence is eagerly requested to attend this year's Polyfest Prize Giving and Opening Night at the Invercargill Museum and Art Gallery. We do need to RSVP by next Friday for the event so please put your name and number attending onto our list at Kindy next week so we can let the organisers know! They have asked that as many of our families attend as possible! This is a fabulous night and so special for our children to be acknowledged for their efforts - ka pai to mahi / great work!!

FOREST KINDY
We got back to the Reserve this week with lots of new children starting. A big thanks to Tim McCallum and Rachel Langford our wonderful Parent Helpers. Tim reconnected with his youth - spending a large part of the morning constructing and reconstructing rakau huts with the group to then have their morning tea in. With all the wind, we are very curious to find out how well these will hold up before next Tuesday!
