Thanks to Julie Pilkington and Diane Hose our Parent Helpers this week.

NARRATIVES
This term we are focused on narratives. The children love to retell stories from home, produce their own scripts, and dictate their thoughts on to paper. Many many books have been produced or are still in the production line in the Project Room waiting final approval from their authors and illustrators. At Story Time in the afternoons the wider group have enjoyed listening to and participating in retelling stories from our trip to the Oreti River. Sometimes these are factual accounts....sometimes we unleash the power of imagination and anticipate what the storyteller will say next!! Lots of meaningful play and learning; literacy and language, contribution, imagination, role play... the list goes on!!

POLYFEST PERFORMANCE
DRESS REHEARSAL MONDAY 25TH AUGUST
On Monday we walked down to Winton School for a dress rehearsal before the big day on Tuesday. It was great to see soooo many Winton School students and teachers come and support us, as well as our wonder Kindy supporters and parent helpers. In the afternoon we had a second practice show for St Thomas Aquinas School who came to Kindy and watched our performance followed by the slide show of our Polyfest Art.

THE BIG DAY!!!! TUESDAY 26TH AUGUST
On Tuesday we headed into Invercargill by bus to the Museum and Queens Park. We enjoyed morning tea in the Band Rotunda before heading into the Museum to view our Polyfest Art and have a look around. Back on the bus and off to the Stadium!! We were greeted by our fabulous Polyfest Volunteers who escorted us to our changing room and helped us back stage. Puipui (skirts) on, tipare (headbands) on, black lipstick for the girls and korowai (cloaks) and poi for our four leaders - and of course the glow stick bracelets for kapo kapo nga whetu (twinkle twinkle little star)....time to make our way to the side of the stage! The presenters welcomed us on stage as we took our places. Wow, sooo many Winton Kindergarten supporters in the crowd!! The children sand their four waiata and moved their bodies to the beat - a great honour to be part of such special occasion representing our Kindergarten! Before we knew it the show was over and we made our way to have a group photo before getting changed once more. A quick play in the playground then back to Winton - what a big day it was!! A huge thank you to our parent helpers for making the day such a success. Ka pai to mahi to all our talented tamariki, a job well done!
