Term 1 Week 12&13

Happy School Days to Tyler Mansell, celebrating his Kindy Birthday today. Next week we say farewell to Anahera Schouten,  Makenna Sinclair, Jax Walker and Thomas Maguire...all off to Winton School! Happy 4th Birthday to Reef Sayers, 4 tomorrow.

Forest Kindy
Thanks to all our families who have joined us at Ivy Russell Reserve this term. Forest Kindy will resume Term 2 Week 2. We had great time at the Kindy Castle with Jack and Thomas making a tightrope for the children, Brent weaving a flax swing, and fishing in the stream. Thanks Anahera and Makenna for your delicious baking - a lovely way to see out your Forest Kindy days. We went down to the "bed bridge" and had lunch after a splash in the stream, before making our way back to the bus.

Krystle's Hut Project.
This week the children have been intrigued by the pallet and pile of willow branches that greeted them on and lawn on Monday morning. At Te Wananga/Discussion Time the group watched YouTube clips of grand and whacky building designs from around the world, to further inspire and provoke their thoughts on our own Kindy Hut design. The group drew blueprints for their plan and set to work! Over the week, groups of children have added their own unique touch to the design of the hut. But, what will it be??? Perhaps a quiet space to share a story with friends... a "Survival Shelter" such as Flynn Harland makes with his Dad in the bush... or, perhaps, the perfect camouflage hide-out for duckshooting in a few weeks time!

Next week's well Krystle's last week with us. We have enjoyed sharing in her journey towards becoming a qualified teacher, and wish her well for the remainder of her studies. Make sure you farewell Krystle next week.

The life cycle of the Butterfly.
It is with sadness that we learned of the passing of our fluttery friend Maisie this week. The children have observed and drawn pastel pictures of Maisie to say farewell. On a brighter note, we wait in anticipation for our second butterfly to emerge!

Tomorrow we have Nelly from Rockdale Park Kindergarten joining us, and I will go to their Kindergarten. Make sure you show Nelly all our amazing places and spaces to learn and discover while she is here.

PLEASE NOTE:
There will be no Blog next week as we draw Term 1 to a close. We would love to have many helpers join us in our end of term tidy up, to continue to maintain the high standard of quality education we provide at Winton Kindergarten. Term 2 will see us begin our 2016 Polyfest journey...more information to follow in the coming weeks. Happy Holidays!

Term 1 Week 11

Bright for Bailley Day on Wednesday.
A big thank you for getting behind our "Bright for Bailley" appeal for Bailley Unahi, ex-Winton Kindy family and victim of the Six60 balcony collapse. Your donations will be passed on to the Unahi family to show our support during this time.

An extra special day, being fortunate to have the opportunity to host Tanya Batt...children's storybook and song writer. What a captivating time we had sharing one of Tayna's stories followed by illustrating and narrating our own story about Sparkle the Cow - thank you to our storyteller Anahera! Thank you our families who joined us for Tanya, a once in a life time opportunity to have such a prestigious performer and creator at our Kindy!

Fruits of our labour...
Yay, our tomato plants have finally produced some delicious treats for our lunch fillings!!

The life cycle of the Butterfly
This week we come back to Kindy to discover that one of our Monarch Butterflies had emerged!
We have observed in anticipation as the metamorphosis process unfolded before our eyes!!
