Term 1 Week 12

We hope everyone enjoyed a chocoholic Easter weekend.  We had what felt like a very quick 3 day week!  During our 3 day week we paid particular attention to noticing the magic happening outside.

Noticing The Extraordinary in the Ordinary

Nga tamariki have been sharing their curiosity with their friends and kaiako..."Why are there so many leaves on the ground!?" WOW, this has been a magical sight to behold, noticing how the different shades of green, yellow and brown leaves cover the ground at our feet.  Lucas and Judy captured photos of the trees outside to provoke nga tamariki with wonder and curiosity even further..."Why do leaves fall off trees, how does the tree know how many leaves to grow?"  These discussions flow through using The Arts as a learning tool, which can be seen in one example below.  Lucas drew his interpretation of what he perceived happening in the photos of the trees.  He explained different theories of why the trees appeared different, "The wind and Winter cold makes the leaves want to fall off."

Eco Fairy Outfit Designing

After the Fairy moved out of the Hobbit/Fairy House, created by nga tamariki last Spring, she needed somewhere new to live. "We need her to sprinkle her magic" Shahn shared with us...which lead us to think maybe she could live in the garden and sprinkle her magic on the tomato plants.  We're very eager for our tomato plants to keep growing so we needed to ensure the Fairy would stay warm outside, and keep her magic alive.  "But what should she wear?"  Nga tamariki designed some amazing outfits, check them out below.

We hope to complete our Fairy outfits next week and see if she enjoys her new home before we finish kindy for term break.  Please help keep our kindy beautiful and clean by choosing a job to do on the cleaning schedule, located by the sign in/out sheet. Thank you!
