Celebrating Matariki 2012
Well the term has once again come to an end and what a busy one it has been!!
Cross country, Polyfest, Matariki to name but a few. As we get ready for next term there are a few changes to be aware of as we anticipate the beginning of our new Kindergarten hours. Thanks so much for your co-operation as we work through all these changes. We understand it hasn't been easy and we too are new to it all as well so we ask you to ear with us as we go through the transition period.
We coinsided our end of a sessional era and the Matariki celebrations with a Party in the Dark last Monday night. It was a fabulous turn out and for those who came rugged up in their winter wooloes, we hope you enjoyed it!!
We also previewed our Polyfest performance songs that we have been practising during the term and look forward to getting up on stage and seeing all our hard work come into fruition!!
We are excited to welcome Christina Vaughan who has been appointed the full time teacher role. Some of you may remember Christina as she was a third year student a couple of years ago. And Sally Bailey has taken on the full-time long term releivers position. Exciting times ahead!
Check out the pics on the slideshow below of the Matariki evening and we will see you all back on the 16th of July!!!

It's the Queen's Birthday...Let's Celebrate!!
What a fantastic week we have had discovering so much about our Royal family all the way over in England. Oliver could share that England was very far away and when he went there he had to go on 5 airplanes!! Phew, that is far Oliver!! It is of course the Queen's Birthday and we are always up for a bit of a celebration so the planning began!
We spent the week researching what Queens and Kings wear and discovered that they can both wear capes. We also found out that Queens often wear Tiara's which, as Hannah could share, is a crown that just goes over your forehead and not around the back of your head...Great explanation Hannah. And crowns come in all different shapes, sizes and colours!!
With all those ideas in mind we set to work on Thursday creating our own crowns to wear to the Queen's Birthday Feast...
Check out the slideshow and see how it all took place!!
And a BIG happy Birthday to Queen Elizabeth and thanks to her, we get to stay in our beds a bit longer on Monday so no Kindergarten everyone!!
Have a great long weekend,

We have spent the week watching the 2011 Polyfest celebrations. Our thoughts are, like last year, we would enter in some Artwork - remembering out of over 500 pieces of Art that were entered last year, our Artwork was accepted into the Museum. No pressure!!! And maybe this year we could also 'Perform' on stage !!! The theme for the Art this year is 'Who am I' and we are planning to put together a (wall hanging), which will include our Centre 'mihi'. We will fill everyone in with more details over the next few weeks. The Art work needs to be entered by Fri 29 June. And we will begin Term 3 by practicing maybe 3 Maori waiata to perform. Polyfest will be held in the Civic on 8,9,10 Aug 2012. We wanted someone who could play the guitar to accompany us ... can anyone help out? And we will also need help with practices & costumes. Let Kylie or Judy know if you can help.
Have a great weekend ... Go the Highlanders, Steel & Sharks & all the Rippa Rugby.

What a great week we've had & a Happy Mothers Day to ALL our Mums ... we hope you get some hugs & treats on Sunday. I've spent the last two days sorting our hours with our Morning families (for our new model) & on Monday I'll also begin to talk to families in our afternoon group. And please DON'T hesitate to share any questions or concerns with us. Teaching appointments close on Monday ... then shortlisting & interviews - so yes it is busy. Also a big thanks to Craig Cubitt for co-ordinating our 'Pallet' fund raiser ... can you contact Craig on 236 7414 or 027 2017305 if you can help with collection. There is a possibility we can make $4000 to put towards our Outdoor Area & resources !!! Have a great weekend everyone ... see you all next week !!!
Judy
