Term 2 Week 4

A warm welcome to three new children this week....Lucas White, Caydence Hunt and Sam White.

Polyfest!!!
Terms 2 and 3 each year see us taking part in the region-wide Polyfest festival - a celebration of all things Pasifika and Maori. The Arts makes up a huge part of our Kindy philosophy, with the Language Of Art providing the medium for communicating ideas and knowledge. Polyfest encompasses a t-shirt design competition, a community korowai/cloak display, the art competition, and the on stage performance at Stadium Southland. This year's Polyfest theme is "Embrace your Identity".

Polyfest T-Shirt design competition:
This week we handed out the template for families to use to design their own unique t-shirt designs. Please grab one next week if you missed out! These are due in by Monday the 25th of May for us to enter into the competition...we can't wait to see how creative you can be!

Polyfest The Arts Competition
Last year we took out the Overall Winner Award for our entry - what a huge accolade acknowledging our children and families efforts - ka pai to mahi - great work! Please do take the time to review our documentation and art on display... This week in Discovery Time(1-2pm Mon-Wed with our oldest children) the group created their own clay nests as well as taking apart and reassembling our huge stick nest - the nest representing our idea of "Embrace your identity"...we will build on this over the term...more information to follow...

Polyfest Performance
This week we started our waiata/song practices with the MTW Group who will represent the Kindy on stage at the end of August.
