Term 3 Week 2

Have you any discussions to share around circuits & electricity from last week?  How DO you explain to 3-4 year olds this phenomena?  The phenomena of light, heat & power is indeed intriguing. We are very keen to hear of any theories that may have been shared!

This week nga Pungawerewere ... spiders, spiders & you quessed it - spider webs continue to intrigue.  Elle has introduced, this week as a continuum, a very naturalistic perspective in the 'systemation' of webs! Lots of maths concepts of under & over, through & round!!!  How clever those nga pungawerewere are!

This week we also put the final touches onto & into our 2017 Polyfest Art Piece & book:  He Taonga, No Te Whenua.  Me Hoki ano Ki te Whenua - What Is Given by the Land, Should be Returned to the Land. It now proudly awaits to be judged (@ Dunedin College of Education, Nelson St Invercargill) amongst hundreds of others - watch this space.

HOBBITSVILLE has hit Winton Kindy ...
Over the term break Christina challenged families to design their 'Hobbit Hole' to enter in the 34th Winton Garden Club Spring Flower Show & Art Exhibition (Fri 29 Sept 2017).  Sophie Mitchell & family have indeed been very busy ... check this out.

Wow ... complete with Lord of the Rings characters ... Gandalf, Gollum & if you open the little door you will find Bilbo Baggins.

Well we had better get busy with our own group entry then ...

Looks cool ... & tks for bringing along some more moss & lichen - Sophie. Now it's a time to let our Hobbitsville age before we enter it @ the end of term.

WHERE DO STORIES LIVE?
Our 'Bones of Leaves' Projects continues with the intrigue of skelton leaves on the light box ...
Did you know a leaf has a spine (petiole) & veins?

And this week @ Te Wanaga time we have introduced our 'Leaf Story Basket'.  Picking a leaf (from the many & varied) from the leaf basket & creating our own  story using 'Once upon a time ...'                    A wonderful way to foster imagination ... forming new ideas, or images or concepts collectively.

FOREST KINDY
This week our 'Nurtured by Nature' programme returned to Ivy Russell Reserve.  Isla Langford & Bradley Olive were our leaders - where will you lead us today Isla & Bradley?  With the rain through the night it was indeed a 'sensorial delight' to slide on, over & around the monster track.  Oh my word ... mud, mud, glorious mud everywhere.  'Mud is fun' - Luiza Frew!  It is indeed!!!

And our Polyfest kapahaka continues as we prepare for our on-stage performance @ the Sthld Stadium Tue 22 Aug 10.50am (Mon, Tue,Wed group).  We are heading down to St Thomas School on Wed 16 Aug for a final dress rehearsal.  EXCITING!!!!

Have a great weekend everyone ... ka kite ano!
