Term 2 Week 6

Wow ... what a ride it's been - COVID-19.  We appreciate it's a time to reset, reconsider, reframe ... and we have.

Have your read our Term 2 2020 Curriculum Design - it's aesthetically & proudly displayed - STOP & have a read.  It's what guides our 'Kawa' of our day.

SpaceX

It DIDN'T happen on Thur but it DID happen on Sunday.  The FIRST space 'customers'!

Have you been able to download the SkyView App?

You don't need to be an astronomer to find patterns of stars & constellations in the sky, just open SkyView Free & let it guide & identify various planets, constellations, International Space Station. - along with fly-by satellites.

Invercargill Central Redevelopment

⭐️ We’re excited to involve our local community in this project which will form an art trail around the CBD while our new inner-city is being built. It’s not too late to be part of it, we still have plenty of panels available and would love to showcase your art!

We've booked a space ... The Art panels have arrived (Wed) - Tks Cam!  We want to symbolically represent our Kindy to the greater Southland community - watch this space!

Prof Carla Rinaldi (Pedagogista & Scientific Consultant of Reggio Emilia writes, 'The whole school has to be a large atelier (studio) that is transformed into a great laboratory of research and reflection'. We await with intrigue ... our completed canvas!

2020 Miharo T-Shirt Comp

Symbolism - Symbolic patterns & pattern-making guide us through our Curriculum Design this term. The brief this year is a design that reflects what Polyfest is about - celebrating culture.  This could be evident through the background or inspiration of a design and/or the use of Maori and/or Pasifika design & pattern. Our entries were sent away on  Fri - Tks Elle. Last years winner was a budding artist from Rockdale Kindy!  Good Luck everyone!

The Miharo (Polyfest) Art Exhibition & Kapa Haka is something we will look forward to in 2021.

Matariki

We acknowledge celestial patterns & consideration through our appreciation of Matariki/Winter Solstice.  Matariki is acknowledged as a significant celebration for us all - acknowledging the history & heritage of our earliest navigators - finding one's way to create one's own destiny - the ability to utilize networks, to build on these strengths & then to aim for the stars.  Matariki traditionally occurs when the first new moon can be seen following the pre-dawn rise of the Matariki constellation - found low in the horizon (NE) 5.30am-6.30am.

Taiao Tuhura

Unfortunately due to COVID-19 our off-site Nurtured by Nature programme will now recommence in Term 3 2020.

Have a great weekend - keep warm.
