Haere Mai - Welcome Back Everyone ...

It's great to be back.  This term our Dispositional Planning will focus on questions, questioning & research to try & find meaning in our world.  We had lots of questions, last term within our Native Bird focus (for the morning children) and about frogs and what they eat and where they sleep (from the afternoon group), so keep checking our Kindy BLOG for updates & challenges.
This week has all been about ANZAC ... we have had some very meaningful discussions about ANZAC Day.  We have shared with the morning children "The Bantam & the Soldier" story.  It's a neat  children's story about the hardships of War ... ask about the story ... there could be some very insightful thoughts to be shared,  following our week of ANZAC 'things'.

We sourced a YouTube clip of ANZAC photos including 'The Last Post'.  It was a neat way to try to explain to our children the significance of this special day.  We even talked about the soldiers uniforms ... how they were all the same ... Ethan Turnock shared a thought 'So they know they are in the same team' ... yep I think you are so right Ethan.

And today we also made our own 'Poppies' after talking about all the poppies that grew in Flanders Fields and we have made ANZAC biscuits over the week.  We talked about how they were made in the War days ... the children LOVED them (as did everyone who walked into Kindy ... the smell WAS divine).  We also photocopied some recipes so if you do want to make them @ home just let us know.

Thanks to everyone who has replied to our 'Celebration of Learning' invitations.  Keep the Thur 6 May free to come along to Kindy and find out all about our new initiatives.  RSVP Tue 4 May.  If you haven't yet received yours ... check your parent Pockets.

LEST WE FORGET
