1...2...3...AMAZING ME!
Our final Amazing Me chapter 'Exploration' was shared with nga tamariki this week. DVD 5-Exploration promoted strategises for turn taking, reinforcing the 'Stop. Think. Act' rule to promote cooperative play and the importance of sharing 'secrets'.
Following up on Alex's phone call to the fire brigade, Christina popped in to collect our 'SAFE MEETING PLACE' stickers. A team effort was made to ensure our own kindy sticker was placed in our 'safe place' by the evacuation gate. After our fire/earthquake drills this week we're most impressed by our visual prompt of where to go encase of an emergency. We hope everyone received a sticker, let us know if you haven't, we have plenty leftover.
Kiwi Summer!
Many of us at kindy love to go camping during the Xmas holidays so what better way to squeeze in some tent constructing skills and anticipate the camping adventures to come. As a usual gathering spot nga tamariki congregated around the 'camp fire' to share their eco adventures & memories of camping & holidaying with their whanau.
All that hard mahi!! It was time for a sleep! Christina's bunk beds made for more cooperative team building & mahi.
Suva Care Package
Thanks Hunter, Rachel & Legg whanau for donating gifts this week! Remember, we're sending our 'Care Package' at the beginning of next year. It's a great opportunity to have a clean out over the holidays & donate any stationary supplies - pens/colouring pencils, educational posters for Naililili Cathedral School.
Taiao Tuhura - Forest Kindy
The sun was shinning so it was off to the creek after revisiting the Blue Gum Tree. Last week the Forest Kindy eco warriors bought the Blue Gum Tree leaves & broken brunches back to kindy to share their discovery with everyone. As Kaitiakitangi this week everyone worked together to restore the creek. The 'problem' was that it wasn't working! The pipe was blocked with leaves & sticks. As it was cleared away, success!! The water was flowing through, ready for fishing!! Bailley caught a 'water slug' and said "I let it have it's life again and let it go!" Thanks for being an amazing Kaitiakitangi Bailley!
CHRISTMAS!!
Leading into Christmas we remember we are Kaitiakitangi & place value on using sustainable resources to create eco Xmas decorations. This week we've enriched our kindy with hand crafted naturalistic ornaments that have been made in previous years by many of nga tamariki older siblings. How lovely it is to have their mahi/work displayed proudly within kindy...and sustainable!
Christmas Cookies
On Thursday Bernice Moss & Charlotte Johnstone kindly shared their morning at kindy assisting the 'Explorers Group' with Christmas cookies. A MASSIVE thank you to Bernice for supplying biscuits, icing & topping treats for nga tamariki to create 'uniquely' designed biscuits . Our 'Baker Explorers' thought it'd be so kind to share with our families at our End of the Year Family Night/Christmas Party next Tuesday! Thank you to our families who have put in their RSVP, we're looking forward to a fantastic evening. On Monday the Discovery Group will be working with Bernice Moss who has kindly offered to help again for more biscuit creating, please let us know if you can come along & assist too.
Whanau Contribution
Thanks to the Chrystall whanau for supplying our pet resident rabbit, Rupert with hay!! If anyone else would like to bring some more hay in for Rupert we're sure Rupert would be very appreciative!
