Term 2 Week 7 Newsletter
Happy School Days to Liam Ankerson. A warm welcome to Bradley Olive and family.
POLYFEST WAKA PROJECT:
A work in progress...thank you to families who have added with own unique touch to our waka frame...we have plenty of flax for family to pop into the Project Room and weave into our Waka...Many hands make light work, so thank you for your involvement.
POLYFEST KAKAHU/UNIFORM:
Our sample Kapahaka Kakadu/uniform arrived this week for the children to trial. The group have enjoyed trying on the kakahu, and their pride/mana when seeing themself in the mirror is so great to see. We have watched lots of past Polyfest performances to gather ideas about our own performance - what we might sing - how we may dance - and of course, the significance of what we will wear to represent Winton Kindergarten! A big thanks to local businesses who have put their hand up offering sponsorship for our kakahu. And special mention to Megs Mitchell, who has been busy contacting locals to round up support...please let Megs or one of the teaching team know if you are interested in helping out with sponsorship of our new kakahu!
EXPRESS TIME: Is it an ice-cream truck? A camper van? Our not-not-not a box continues to provoke and inspire our dramatic play this week.
MATARIKI:
The children are learning about Matariki, the Maori New Year during Te Wananga Time/Discussion Time, and are feeling soo excited about our Matariki family night next Wednesday.

The "not a box" looked very comfy this week! Thomas is really enjoying this repetitive play.
