WOW ... what a day it was on Tuesday - PM Excellence (Teaching & Learning) judging day.
The weather was what it was - a classic Southland Winters day. A disjointed day for the judges as one of the judges - Wendy Lee's - flight from Hamilton to Invercargill was diverted to Christchurch & then Queenstown - with the next leg Queenstown to Winton - by bus.
Next Tuesday 6 Aug our film crew from Wellington arrive.
Lu Davidson will be joining with his filming crew from Wellington - Gibson Group. They will be filming @ both Ivy Russell Reserve & here @ Kindy. Another wonderful opportunity to showcase nationally our Taiao Tuhura programme. The filming - 'trailer' - will sit alongside the judging & will be shared @ the awards ceremony (10 Sept) & then made available to view on the Ministry of Education (MOE) website - 2019 PM Excellence Awards afterwards.
2019 Environment Southland Community Awards
We have also entered the Environment Southland Community Awards - taking action in your own backyards to make a significant difference to our environment. Taiao Tuhura sits & fits perfectly with the brief. Entires closed on Fri 26 Jul ... watch this space!NZ Kindergartens Cultural Awards
We have also been nominated by Kindergartens South to participate in this years NZ Kindergarten (NZK) Awards. We have received an email this week by Nikki McRobie (GM Kindergartens South) to say we have, not only been nominated but we have also become a finalist - we are one of two finalists. Our Presentation day/date is 6 Sept ... watch this space!Murihiku Polyfest Art Exhibition
And not forgetting all our mahi on our Art exhibit. A terms narrative is thoughtfully & organically woven into our 'Toi' (art) piece. Entries close today - Fri 2 Aug.
We've also published a thoughtful hardcover book documenting our mahi & our journey to share with the judges.
Recycle ... RePurpose
I'm sure everyone has noticed our repurposed hat/coat stand ... a HUGE tks to Sean Excell (Sophie's Dad) for all his handy work. Instead of purchasing new ones our eco-sustainability thoughts were why don't we repurpose it - so we did (or should we say Sean did). I think you will all agree it is very eco-friendly! We noticed the children checking out all the different work colours & textures this week. We just need some new wheels & it will be perfect!!!
To finish off our week we spent this afternoon retelling stories ... Pete the Cat by Eric Litwin seemed to be the most popular.
Keep warm over the weekend. The Teaching Team are all heading to Arrowtown to partake in an exclusive Reggio Inspired Professional Learning seminar facilitated by Kirsty Liljegren who is flying in from Melbourne ... we hope.
Ka kite - The Teaching Team
