Kindess counts ...
We received a very thoughtful card in the mail last week - we weren't sure who - we did know where - Banks Penninsula, but still left us wondering. It was indeed a surprise - James from the filming crew sent us a thank-you for our koha we shared - Hunter Legg's honey & some treats. Tks James we are pleased you have enjoyed some home-grown Southland honey on your toast!!!Welcome back Linda ...
A welcome back to Linda this week. We kindly shared Antonia with Fiordland Kindy - Tue/Wed & managed to get Linda to relieve for us. Linda will also been here when we are ALL away to Wellington (PM Excellence Awards - 10 Sept) - so there is a little bit of familiarity @ Kindy while we are away! Tks Linda!
Miharo Murihiku - 2019 Polyfest KapaHaka is in full swing ...
We have had dress rehearsals Mon & Wed this week - bring on Tue. Our last dress rehearsal will be on Monday - we are ready!!! We've purchased some new Poi - we have noticed how animated the children are with 'Taku Poi' - hopefully they arrive before Tue!!! We have the support on Tue of our Limehills SVA (Student Voulnteer Army - Talia, Ester, Josh & Danny). EVERYONE is soooo excited! Just a reminder the bus leaves Kindy for the ILT Stadium Southland (Kapahaka venue) @ 9am & following our performance we are off to Andersons Park for shared kai. Back to Kindy around 12.30pm.Environment Southland - Community Award
Wahoo ... we were contacted (Wed 21 Aug) from Environment Southland (Kirsten Harper) to say we are a finalist in the 2019 Community Awards. We have three judges - Councillor Lyndal Ludlow & David Stevens along with Laura Morrison from Environment Southland. A further opportunity to locally share our Taiao Tuhura programme & Taki Waka Project! Judging was today. Tks to all our children/parents who made themselves available today to show/share with the Judges - our Kaitiaki values. Pics on FB post today. Awards ceremony is in Oct!Taiao Tuhura ... this weeks adventure!
Our outdoor adventures & the sanctuary of being in 'Nature' continue. As always, we are so amazed how this Collaborative Learning Group - evolve. The leaders, the helpers, the decison-makers, the listeners, sharing their 'voice' collaboratively - environmentalists in action!!!
It's NOT a box ... exactly. Our purposed built storage box (but it's more than that) kindly made by Winton Lions Club now holds mny of our treasures.
How clean is the stream? Hannah from Environment Sthld has really made an impact on the children. Our waterways are looking very pristine!
It's NOT a stick ... so what is it then?
Ah ... some very fishy narratives shared indeed!
Here's an Eco Challenge for everyone
Are you up for the challenge ...Spring Flower Show - Art Exhibition
We've begun to share some provocations with the children. Our national icon seems very familiar to many of the children - GREAT. Taiao Tuhura share with us each week - shhhhhhhh the Kiwis are hibernating!
Any thoughts or ideas most welcome!!!
Great week ... as always. Keep warm this weekend.
