Murihiku Polyfest Kapahaka Performance
Kaiako couldn't be more proud of nga tamariki. Such pride & mana in their performance on stage at the ILT Stadium 2018 Murihiku Polyfest Kapahaka on Tuesday. Kapahaka practise has not just happened at kindy, but also at home, singalongs in the car... and public spaces e.g. Winton New World! And all that mahi certainly shone through during our performance. What an incredible accomplishment! Tu meke to mahi!!!Our very naturalistic paddles for our Kapahaka Hoea te Waka waiata! |
It's showtime!
Polyfest Art Exhibition
Still feeling ecstatic from our performance we were eager to check out the various art entry prize winners upstairs - including our own. These inspirational pieces share unique ways of retelling stories, through The Arts, are proudly displayed - supporting our Reggio Emilia inspired learning - The Hundred Languages (children representing their knowledge in many ways) - The Language of Storytelling. And with that we were off to find an eco-friendly place to unwind. We made our way to the captivating space of the Stumpery (Queens Park) to eat our much earned kai.
Our 2018 Polyfest Celebrations come to an end ...
Wednesday - we revisited our Polyfest video Kapahaka performance on the big stage! We've been told from many of our families the performance has been viewed LOADS of times at home too! So to complete our Polyfest mahi we buried the remaining ashes from our Taki Waka Project. Respectfully & ceremonially the ashes were scattered around our planting (black flax) creating a finality to our 2018 Polyfest journey.
Our Story-Telling continues ...
Our Thur/Fri group welcomed back Carmel, from Winton Library. Carmel visits us fortnightly on a Thursday to share favourite stories, tales & legends. Accompanying Carmel, this week, was Jack (Carmel's son) from St Thomas Aquinas School, with his ukulele! A BIG paki paki to Jack's ukulele recital. Come back and join us anytime Jack!

And just before we shared our Karakai Kai we shared a Daffodil Day Flash Dance in Aotea Square video clip. Click on the YouTube link below & share it with your child - let us know what happens!
